I.
G&G and Micro finance
G&G
has several years of experience in the design and management
of microfinance and credit projects. G&G has also been
undertaking pioneering work in Turkey to encourage a change
in the law on microfinance and to develop new models to enable
micro credit programmes to be introduced.
In
Azerbaijan, G&G is managing a US $11.5 million line of
credit to participating credit unions and borrower's groups.
G&G has also co-financed at least 20 percent (US $2.3
million) of the credit line. Working on behalf of the Azerbaijan
Ministry of Finance and with support from the World Bank,
G&G has successfully entered into credit contracts with,
disbursed loans to, and collected repayments from participating
credit unions and borrower's groups. This project is just
one example of our work. We include additional information
about our microfinance projects in the next section.
Our
professional staff has extensive practical experience in the
arena of micro finance, both in Turkey and elsewhere.
This includes designing micro credit programs, training and
developing institutional capacity to create Borrowers Groups
and Credit Unions, as well as directing and implementing international
donor-financed projects at the national level.
G&G
is therefore well placed to offer support and technical assistance
to organizations in Turkey which are interested in developing
micro finance and credit programs.
